About Us

Our Mission

The overall purpose of the Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School (Stokes School) Parent Teacher Association is to supplement and assist Stokes families, faculty and staff in their efforts to optimize the learning and social environment for Stokes Scholars.

As the Stokes PTA, we are about parents and teachers working together. Our goal is to create a better school and a better educational experience for our children.  We work to create an atmosphere where everyone can do their best work.

Married to Alyssa, Dad to Leo (Stokes PK-4 Spanish B) and Adrian (Future Stokes Student). I enjoy traveling, movies. discovering new music artists, concerts, theater, baseball games, and hiking. Fun fact: I have seen over 500 different artists live in concert.

Bryson Hatten

My name is Mr. Bryson, and I’m thrilled to be the 3rd grade English teacher at Stokes. I began my journey here in 2019 as a fourth-grade English teacher assistant. Although I was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, I’m proud to consider myself a DC native now. This year marks my first as a member of the PTA executive board, and I’m excited to contribute to the team and support our school community.

Married to Chad Clark, mom to Zoë (3rd grade Spanish) and Cairo (PK-3 Spanish A). I enjoy food, photography, playing tennis, and watching true crime. Fun fact: I was born and raised in the other Washington…the state. Howard University brought me to the city.

Wife and mom of 2, Maduka  (1st grade Spanish) and Muna (future stokes student). Enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures. Food is my love language, followed by music. Fun fact - despite my love for food, I’ve never had onion rings!
